The Seat of Wisdom (SEDES SAPIENTIAE)

It is a tradition handed down for centuries that Christians venerate the Mother of Christ as “the Seat of Wisdom”. (Sedes Sapientiae)

According to Christian belief, Christ is the wisdom seated on the Throne. This implies, on the one hand, that the Mother of Christ is the Dwelling Place of the Supreme Wisdom of all science.

On the other hand, the university is the Alma Mater, or our Mother who is also the “Dwelling Place of Knowledge”. In this context, “Assumption” which, besides its religious meaning in glorification of the Mother of Christ, has yet another meaning in Thai, namely” the Abode of Abiding Knowledge” Rightly, “Assumption University” is the Seat of Wisdom.

Au Golden Rock
“Au” the abbreviation of Assumption University coincides with the chemical term “Aurum”, which means “gold”. Gold has been a symbol of goodness and value for ages.
Sala Jaturatham
The Pavilion of Four Virtues is so named by virtue of being inscribed on its upper part with the words “Prudence; Justice; Fortitude; Temperance.”

Sala Chaturamuk Paijit
The Thai Pavilion is for Thai ceremonies and cultural activities. This is the biggest fourpatio Thai pavilion in the world and is indicative of the location of the university in Thailand.

The Crystal Restaurant by Chez Jean Pierre
The Crystal Restaurant by Chez Jean Pierre was constructed at Suvarnabhumi Campus on March 23, 2011 and completed in June 2011.
Indoor Tennis Court
Construction of the tennis court building (Center Court) at the Bangna campus began on February 1, 2004, and was scheduled for completion on February 16, 2005.
Assumption University's Aquatic Center
Construction has begun on an Olympic-standard 50x50 meter swimming pool. Construction commenced in August 2004.
John Paul II Sports Center
Construction of the John Paul II Sports Center gymnasium began in July 2001 and was scheduled for completion on August 25, 2002.

Construction of the Cathedral of Learning building began on July 15, 1994 and was scheduled for completion on February 8, 2000.

The School of Economics building, sharing the same name as the Martin de Tours School of Management and Economics, was completed on May 31, 2010. It is an 11-story building comprising a 158-seat mini-theater, a multi-purpose area, offices, faculty offices, and lecture halls.
